Handcrafted from cedar and finished in black, this two-chamber habitat holds up to 75 bats. The dark finish pulls in daytime heat and holds it after dark, which is what a colony needs where evenings turn cold.
Two chambers, 75 bats. Bats roost in tight vertical crevices, not open cavities. Two chambers give a colony the depth it needs and a choice of temperature as the day heats up and cools down.
Why the black finish. Black absorbs solar heat and releases it slowly overnight. In cooler regions and at elevation that stored warmth matters more than almost any other design choice. For hot summers, the natural cedar finish reflects heat instead.
Rough-sawn interior. Every interior surface is grooved so bats can climb and hang securely. A smooth interior is the most common reason a habitat stays empty — bats cannot grip it.
Ventilated and weather-resistant. Ventilation slots keep the chambers from overheating on the hottest days and stop damp collecting. Solid cedar resists rot without chemical treatment.
Honest about timing. Bats scout new roosts in spring and are deliberate about it. Some fill in the first season, others take two. Height, sun exposure and distance to water matter most — all three are covered below.

Size affects both capacity and climate control. A 2-chamber bat house can host around 50–75 bats and suits smaller yards or bachelor colonies. Larger 3- or 4-chamber bat houses can hold several hundred bats, including maternity groups, and they retain heat more evenly—important in regions with wide temperature swings.
Too small can limit success, but too big is rarely a problem. If you have space and sun exposure, choosing a larger house gives you the best long-term results.
The best bat house color depends on your local climate. Darker colors, like black or dark brown, absorb more heat and work well in cooler regions with mild summers. Medium shades, such as natural wood or mid-tone brown, suit temperate areas. Light colors, like cedar or tan, reflect sunlight and are best in hot climates where summers regularly exceed 95°F (35°C). The goal is to keep the bat house interior within the preferred range of 80–104°F (27–40°C).

It’s taking me three years to finally get around to putting up the bathhouse I bought from you for my wife. So I was very disappointed when I looked inside to figure out how to mount it on the pole that I bought specifically for bat houses. That’s when I discovered one of the screws went in shallow and splintered one of the slats inside.
Other than that, it looks nice. I just hope this amount is the right one!

It was only after delivery and reading mounting instructions that I learned that 2-chamber houses not recommended for poles.
Also, 1/4 inch cedar sides made drilling mounting holes difficult. Thicker sides would have made this project much more fun!

The box was shipped via USPS. It went from your warehouse to Portland Oregon, then to Washington D.C, Then back across the states to Eugene Oregon and finally to Bend Or. The top of the box has a hole in it and a hole in the Bat Box. Foam sheet would of stopped the damage. A big plus is to let the customer to pick how the box should be shipped. I would of picked UPS or FEDEX. and paid the extra cost. Unless proper boxing and different shipping is allowed I doubt that I will use your business again.

I can't yet speak to how well this actually attracts bats, because after purchasing, I realized for my living situation, I'll need to build/buy a stand or pole for my box HOWEVER, the box came in excellent condition, looks great, and the dedication to the health of the bats and the humans using these boxes is obvious. A lot of care went into the product, and it shows in the quality.

It was only after delivery and reading mounting instructions that I learned that 2-chamber houses not recommended for poles.
Also, 1/4 inch cedar sides made drilling mounting holes difficult. Thicker sides would have made this project much more fun!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Our two-chamber houses are best for wall mounting or paired setups on poles, not single-pole installs. The ¼-inch cedar is chosen to keep weight low and temperatures stable for the bats, though it can make drilling trickier.

The box it came in was in good condition. The bat housesare well built. Haven't put them up yet but can't wait to help the wildlife

The box was shipped via USPS. It went from your warehouse to Portland Oregon, then to Washington D.C, Then back across the states to Eugene Oregon and finally to Bend Or. The top of the box has a hole in it and a hole in the Bat Box. Foam sheet would of stopped the damage. A big plus is to let the customer to pick how the box should be shipped. I would of picked UPS or FEDEX. and paid the extra cost. Unless proper boxing and different shipping is allowed I doubt that I will use your business again.

I can't yet speak to how well this actually attracts bats, because after purchasing, I realized for my living situation, I'll need to build/buy a stand or pole for my box HOWEVER, the box came in excellent condition, looks great, and the dedication to the health of the bats and the humans using these boxes is obvious. A lot of care went into the product, and it shows in the quality.
Thanks for the kind words, Will! Glad to hear the box arrived in great shape. You're right—pole or wall mounting works best since trees can be too shady and leave bats exposed to predators. A simple 15-foot pole in a sunny, open spot will give you the best shot at attracting residents. Give it time—bats are picky, but once they move in, they stick around.
