Great, solid bat house

We bought 2 double black chamber bat house and are very satisfied with our purchase. The quality is obvious and they are good looking on our house. This company that, we have just discovered, seems to be ethical and invested in bats' ecosystem and wellbeing.

It looks well made and safe for our little bat friends. I hope the bats enjoy my new air b&b and use it frequently .

Story: So I had notice what looked like mouse droppings by the back door (pic-1). I was wondering whether mice had been entering the house by the roof. Right above the droppings was an outdoor speaker (pic-2) and when I took a closer look to see if we had a gap between the soffit and brick I found (pic-3) a surprise tenant. A brown bat had found that area acceptable for a home. This explained the decease in the local misquito population coming from our neighbor unkempt water feature. So I did not want to disturb the bat afraid it would find a home else where. So I looked to to ways to relocate it so that we did not continue to get droppings right by the door. After a search for bat houses I chose the Big Bat Box because; of the reviews, that fact they offered a black one (needed for the northern location) and that it was made out of cedar which would hold up better to the weather. After receiving the box I noted that it was constructed very well. It was very large for the single bat I wanted to relocate, but I am hoping there will be others. The box said they used a no scent cedar, but the bat house did smell of cedar, just not very strong. The 4-L brackets provided were made of stainless, but the screws were not. I made a trip to the hardware store and purchased stainless screws, just in case I ever want to remove or relocate the bat box. The cedar is a very soft wood and I had no issue lining up, drilling or attaching the L brackets. After braving 20ft installation on the south facing peak of the roof the bat box was finally up (pic-4). It took two days for our tenant to find the new home, but it finally decided to move to the up-graded home (away from walking surfaces below). I am hoping that after the winter migration south our bat tenant decides to invite more bats to come and stay.

I chose this bat house because it was looked sturdy, well made, and was attractive. When we received it, it was all of those things! Also, it was easy to mount! We're hoping to attract many bat and have this lovely high quality bat house for many, many years.
