After burning myself out, from running a multimillion dollar company, and then going bankrupt in the recession, I was ready for a simple lifestyle.
And so began my search for a business I could run from home.
Then in Jan 2017 I stumbled across a listing right here in Colorado. I phoned the owner, and thought I lost my mind, when I was told, “ I build bat houses out of my garage”. “Bat houses?” I asked incredulously, not sure I had heard right. “Yea bat houses.” he assured me.
Being the curious person I am, I had to see for myself. Four hours later I was in the heart of the Rocky Mountains getting a tour of the bat box factory.
As a craftsman I instantly fell in love with the whole idea, and bought Pikes Peak Market on the spot. I crammed the equipment and tools in the back of our family minivan and drove home that night, to set up shop in my garage.
I was in business….. …..building Bat Boxes….. Wow this was cool!
The first few weeks I worked on getting the building process streamlined.
Then wanting more time to focus on building the business up, I phoned a long time Amish friend of mine who owns a woodshop. He agreed to build for me.
With the building off my plate, I am spending more time studying how to better help conserve bats.
I am very excited to be part of this cause, that connects with my personal values of simplicity and living in harmony with nature.
I sincerely thank you for your interest in conserving bats, and in our business of building bat boxes.
